Re: What is "the market" in your view?

It's the US market for new and used homes.

Where is this entity you refer to as "THE MARKET" located?

Between Mexico and Canada.

Surely you are not referring to people who have jobs and families and want to locate both in areas that offer the type of jobs and schools that such families can get and want?

Indeed I am. You appear to be confusing "wants" and "needs."
And stop calling me Shirley :-)

If you think SMART people are led to financial slaughter by real estate agents or mortgage brokers

For the past 70 years in this country, the whole lifetime of buyers, their parents and grandparents, the mortgage industry was regulated to limit first mortgages against owner occupied homes to amounts that were reasonably likely to be repaid. That all changed about 3 years ago in a well intentioned experiment reminiscent of giving Thalidomide to anxious, expectant mothers.
