How comes I never needed a gun?

Good question. No doubt most of the people who own guns in the USA never actually "need" them.

I did have one occasion to "use" a gun, sort of.

A neighbor hired a tree man who was going door to door, looking for work.

After the guy got started trimming a tree, he had a psychotic break and accused my neighbor of sexually molesting him when he was a child, which was rather frightening considering that the man had a chain saw.

My neighbor called me for advice. I called the police, and went to his house with a loaded gun to wait for the police to come.

I did not show the man the weapon, but it felt very good to hold it in my hand.

Crazy men and chain saws are a bad combination.
