What does that make me?

It depends. Best I've been able to figure out is that on "SI" liberal and conservative have as much real meaning and the blue team and the green team. It has no relationship to any definitions of conservative or liberal as one might find in a dictionary or any particular political philosophy.

In that context you're definitely a "liberal", as am I. I'm ok with that. Red team, green team, chartreuse team, what the heck.

I was tempted to ask Bru as to what defines a "liberal" or "conservative", or what exactly makes Barbara Bush a conservative. It didn't seem likely that I was going to get anything meaningful out of it.

It's similar to his Brooks study. What is conservative? What is religious? How does the status of the head of household determine the political leanings of the entire family? Brooks claims that a conservative head of household means the family is conservative. And perhaps that is true for conservatives. If the head of household [a male] is conservative, he demands the rest of the family be conservatives. In our family, we consider the "Head of Household" to be an arbitrary term established by the IRS many years ago. My wife an I think that we're co-equal. Maybe that makes me liberal.
