To have avoided it then based on value metrics, only to jump in now because of them, is a rather excellent testament against using them IMO.

I think that pure value investing has proven to be sub optimal in tech. That's why Buffet didn't do as well as his peers during the tech boom of the 90s.

There are still a lot of investors that use the value approach. They just don't make as much money as they would with a more flexible strategy.
