Sorry for insulting you, but I think to describe an exercise for 2000 shares and then selling 1500 as "net selling" is a gross mischaracterization. You apprently didn't notice that the Yahoo listing does not count exercises as purchases and wrongly makes it appear that AMD"s directors are reducing their holdings of AMD stock. Such is not the case. And you choose to ignore a very valid point by Alex Halperin that there are many valid reasons to sell a stock, such as wanting to build a house or buy a boat, or make your portfolio less volative. My father made the mistake of having almost all his stock assets in Westinghouse stock when he was forced to retire for health reasons. Thousands of shares dropped 90% due to poor real estate investments by the company and this part of his nest egg almost vanished. Getting back to Haperin's point -- there are many valid reasons to SELL stock obtained via stock options, but there is only ONE good reason to BUY your company's stock in the open market -- you expect it to GO UP. In fact, you must be fairly certain of it! AMD has FOUR execs who purchased stock with their own money on the open market, just like you and me, IN THE LAST 6 weeks.
