u up early today, I see :).

Dual core chips are really ahead of time. Hardware must be ahead of time. Has always been so, and will always be. If you don't offer toys to the infrastructure-boys (and the few girls) they can't play with it. Lessee what comes out of from Redmont to make use of it for us.

I believe what your sons are doing is pretty much what all boys do. I don't like proprietary platforms, but as long there is competition in console-land I don't mind too much. I understand what you say about your oldest being still around. I don't believe a general rule exists at what age it is good to leave home. Everybody is different and has to find his own way.

hopefully number 1 son will study more and play less
Oh, boys are to play. If he finds it interesting to play with what we choose to call knowledge, examine thoughts and put them together in different ways to find out what comes out he'll study like hell.:) Very unfortunately, our schools seem to focus more on memory i/o than to develop computational capabilities, nowadays. Not a surprise our kids don't find that very interesting. Because it really isn't.

Haven't been in Austin for quite a while, what I particularly liked was music there, beside its climate. And the texan way. Guess Texans have still relatively good contact to nature from its agricultural history. U born there?
