Seems to me that if Bernanke was a "political hack" he'd be lowering rates. Then again Bush is a lame duck to the 3rd degree maybe Bernanke doesn't care.
Now, take Greenspan, was he a "political hack"? Or was he just a "political hack" when he served while a Republican President was in office? He was appointed by Reagan, was there under GHW Bush, Clinton and GW Bush. He didn't screw up too bad until the latter Clinton years and all of GW Bush.
