Better yet become HVAC technician or HVAC systems control technician. A lot better pay and security. Almost recession proof since you are dealing with maintenance in the existing buildings. High value added trade and relatively high entry level. I am charging between $ 40- $ 120/hr for a service call, depending on the complexity of the job. On the new heat pump installations I can make up to $ 600/hr. Closing the gap on the PIG MEN <G>
