Nope. The world will go on without us. We are no longer the supreme economic beings we once thought we were. We are just a bunch of foolish people who mismanaged our finances and affairs to the point of marginalizing our own importance. We will be missed, as Las Vegas would miss a big loser who has been cleaned out at the tables. But we are firmly on the sucker side of the bet, and life in the big casino will go on without us. We placed our bets, got good and drunk, and we will end up in the alley mumbling "you can't do this to me, I am an important customer" -- but they can, they will and they are. The US will not evaporate off the planet. We will pay more and we will get less. The rest of the world will hold their noses and take our dollars, but the dollar will be treated like any tainted currency -- it will be received like slightly used toilet paper. Don't expect the world to kiss your butt or mine to take your dollars in the future.
