So where was the offer to Clinton? There wasn't one. Could we have sent in Delta Force to Sudan and taken OBL out in 1996? Maybe, but the proof wasn't in that he was guilty until 1997, after which Clinton did go after him with all guns blazing. The problem was Afghanistan is a great hiding place and the only option we had was cruise missiles. So Clinton launched 150 of them based on sat-recon surveillance. But there is a lag between a cruise missile flying 800 miles and the real-time satellite recon. OBL had moved by the time the missiles hit, though some Al Qaida were killed and all training camps were turned into lunar landscapes.

Clinton in no way ever said he was offered OBL. And our present should not be killing people until he's sure they are guilty. Can you imagine if we did that? Also, the Saudis were probably protecting OBL since his father is one of their elite of elites.

The Sudan "offer" story has been studied and totally rebuked by non-partisan experts. But the rightwing continues lying about it anyway.

The real issue is how nine years after OBL was proven guilty in 1997 GW Bush has not laid a glove on him despite spending about a trillion dollars and losing 4000/25000 US troops, especially after he promised to get him? At least Clionton tried and just missed. Bush hasn't tried since he let him go at Tora Bora, with no explanation for that huge obvious blunder.
