What do I suggest?

Glad you asked. If we are truly at war..a serious war against an ememy that means to destroy us...then it should be a time of national sacrifice to build up the defenses of our Country and prepare ourselves against that enemy, and other enemies waiting for us to be weakened.

What sacrifice have most of us (note, I say most of us) been asked to give? National service? ..no. Higher taxes ( or even reduction of "cuts") to balance our books against the higher costs of the fight? no. Cuts in domestic services to pay for higher costs of war off our shores? No. Intentionally higher prices to wean us off foreign oil and other products that put our security at risk? No.

What have any of been asked to sacrifice? Oh, a little inconvenience at the airport check in line.

But what are we risking by our current course of out of control spending on EVERYTHING...and limitless BORROWING to pay for the spending on guns, butter and everything else?

Answer: A lot! We empower China, Japan and others than own our debt. We empower foreign nations that send us our fuel (because we will not take the steps to make ourselves independent). We won't bear the costs of true border security. It might "hurt business" or it might "offend someone".

So...yes. If we are going to spend wildly to fight the enemy you speak about so often, and the war is to be a long one, then I think we should all be sacrificing. Domestic spending must be cut and/or some revenue increases must be found. If its really all of our fight, then we should pay for the fight...not push it off on our kids and grandkids. If the President wants another 100 billion dollars for the war...how does he propose to pay for it? No answer. That's not good enough for me.

So if you ask what I suggest, I would say..let's get our priorities straight. It's just a start...sacrificing as a nation worked for us in the past. If we believe in the goals of the sacrifice. Those who scream the loudest about the danger should be the ones first and foremost prepared to lead the sacrifice.

Are you ready?
