[ESLR] Taking out the 13wema would finally show some conviction. It's been R for a long time.

I thought it had it conquered the last time I mentioned it.

Wal-Mart Moves To Power Its Stores With Solar Energy >WMT
.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) Thursday confirmed that it is seeking solar-panel suppliers to equip its more than 3,900 stores with renewable energy.

The Bentonville, Ark., company - the world's largest retailer - said it issued a request for proposals last month to suppliers. The company said in 2005 it intends to eliminate about 20% of its stores' greenhouse emissions over the next seven years, and wants to eventually be 100% supplied by renewable energy.

Details of the solar-panel request weren't immediately available. The news was first reported on CNET News.com.

The request is a positive signal for the industry, but comes at a time when solar-panel makers are in the midst of a shortage of the building block material, silicon.

"(The proposal) could be a very exciting poster child for the solar space, but the industry is not prepared for such a demand," Ardour Capital Investments analyst Walter Nasdeo said, adding that Wal-Mart doesn't do anything on a small scale.

New silicon facilities will come on line in 2008 and 2009 and that will help with manufacturing capacity, Nasdeo said. .
