That B% represents a Standard Deviation .. it's near Zero ..

What's that mean ??

If that's not a Bottom it ought to be close at hand.

Your B% is set at the 20 .. with a Deviation of 2.

The Setting 20,2.

If you want a 200 Standard Deviation [STD] off the 200MA .. it should be set at 200,2.

Off the 50dma 200 Std Dev .. set at 50,2.

Right?

[%B] Ken .. I went digging for the info.

Your chart was based on a 20DMA with a 4 STD or a Run Away from the 20 and a tightening of the Bands. Which would lead one to believe that a Reversion to the Mean would ensue ??

This chart from Dell shows Bollinger Band Width for a 20-day moving average using 4 standard deviations. It is easily seen how a high BB Width often indicates a slowing trend (red lines), and how a low BB Width often indicates a forming trend (green line).

Bollinger Band Width and SharpCharts2

With SharpCharts2, a user can plot the Bollinger Band Width indicator using an n-period average (specified in the first box) and any multiple of standard deviations (specified in the second box). Since by definition Bollinger Band Width uses two standard deviations, placing a "2" in the second box will chart four standard deviations. Placing a "0.5" in the same box will chart one standard deviation. The far right box does not affect the chart.
