What it does do, is give the ability to expand units at a time when they're a little tight on the supply side.

Theoretically yes, but considering none are available I think it's a bit premature to conclude they can make them in volume at this time.

As far as how far behind AMD is with 65nm, I think 14 months is a bit of an exaggeration. Considering that Intel didn't launch any of their 65nm chips until January

Intel was shipping revenue material in 2005 before they announced. AMD announces then ships at some point in the future. When is still a question.
