Absolutely so right, Peter....If we don't get our borders in order, then we might as well open the borders completely, and just stop with any pretense at trying to keep the terrorists out.

"...commitment is made to enforce employment laws, illegal immigration will slow down."

A potential illegal immigrant doesn't know anything about the laws of America before arriving. A Haitian, African or Albanian, whatever only knows their life stinks and might be better in American. He/she sees only opportunity and will do whatever it takes to get here. It's like the war on drugs, there's no way to win. It's a losing battle. You can't build a wall tall enough to keep the immigrants out. What you can do is help improve the plight of their suffering in their native country. Otherwise, the people will keep on coming. Hey guys, have you ever tried to hire a dishwasher? Or a roofer? Or someone to deliver fliers door to door? It's not as easy as you might think. Perhaps the minimum wage should be increased, that way more Americans would be interested in doing the crappy jobs only immigrants seem willing to do.
