Slacker, Re: “Something BREWing in Europe”

Very encouraging news from a Q unit that is now entering in the R&D “harvesting” stage after five years.

Any idea of the size of these two, sub wise??

British carrier O2, owned by Telefónica,
Telecom Italia's mobile unit (TIM)

Also, pretty impressive sequential growth - “Merrill Lynch estimated that BREW brought in $41 million, up $12 million from the previous quarter.”

Although the Q’s “original” FY07 EPS guidance is not too impressive compared against Q’s historical standards, one of Keitel’s charts reflected a large portion of current R&D expenditures strategically directed toward the longer term- suggesting sustained dominance even after robust CDMA based handset sales growth slows.

Snip>>>>
Initiatives planned for significant revenues (in context of total QCOM) in 4+ years
–MediaFLO
–OFDMA/UMB/LTE
–HSPA+
–MEMs technology (Iridigm displays)
–Processors
Other non-disclosed projects

Additionally Dr Jha has also emphasized "significant" growth coming from non-traditional handset sources-

+ Laptops w/ QCOM embedded EV-DO / HSDPA/UPA / WiFi modules.

..... 34 HSDPA models commercially available using QCT (only 2, non-QCT)

+ Various other Consumer Devices
+ Wireless home connectivity devices
