Quick little update from disaster town.

Well.......where to begin?

I am on my sister's lap top catching up on email and news and SI friends. Day 6 and we still are without power. The 4 week old Honda generator blew a gasket last night around 9:00. We took a look and said: "what the hell......there's no fixing it now.......let's go to bed." LOL

It really has been a lifesaver. We had heat, refrige working, lights, and even movies on the TV using the DVD player. It was ok till it died. Trying to have a sense of humor about this.....all a person can do.

Am doing laundry and catching up on email and SI and letting you all know that we made it through without any damage. One tree on our property lost its top which impaled itself in what we call the field missing any structures. Everything else is fine. Poor neighbor's van and truck were T-boned by his neighbor's huge Doug fir...that had ivy growing all over it, don't let ivy take over your trees, it weakens them and they can become deadly weapons during storms. Poor guy........another tree from the same neighbor's place T-boned his garage roof in the storm before this one.

My sister stayed with us for 5 days as she didn't have any power....now here I am relying on her stuff. LOL The circle of life.

1/2 of our town is still without power. We have three grocery stores and one is finally up and running. I took a drive this am and the area east of me looks like a hurricane came through. Trees hanging over roadway suspended from wires. Debris EVERYWHERE and people wandering around with lost expressions.

If I had one word of advice for you all it would be fuel. Make sure you always have fuel stored away. Propane, gasoline, wood........I don't care. Whatever it takes to keep warm. Of all things.......it is keeping warm that is most important.

We were very prepared for this storm. We had plenty of propane, candles, gasoline, batteries. Running low now! As soon as I get through her I'm going to go out and find more batteries and candles. Have used all of mine up. Creepy not having backup.

Will answer pms as soon as I can get back on line and don't have running around to do, catching up on laundry, shuttling food from my house to sisters, kids friends etc.........ekkk!

Thanks for being there.......I love all of you.

;) M

PS I actually went skiing yesterday and had to drive past the little town where we have the river front prop. Imagine 150ft trees downed in a swath from hurrincane. Imagine power poles snapped in half. That is what I saw when I got in that area. Amazingly.......the ski area had power. I'm glad I got away from this mess for a few hours.

Take care!
