Good points, Lars. The entire world is following Europe`s lead, and adopting the latest GSM technologies - both 3GSM and its bastard child of the New World and the isolated islands of Asia - CDMA without the W.

Gee Lars, if it's so bad then why is Nokia etc so afraid to let the European people choose between the technologies.

Yes. It's unfortunate KDDI isn't able to offer all the services and features of those Euro GSM carriers.

Looking for a rumble, hey Lars?

You can't roam?

First, disallow CDMA within Europe, and then talk about not roaming?!

No SIM cards?

How many CDMA users are complaining about a lack of a SIM card?!

Poor battery capacity?

How many CDMA phone customers are complaining about battery life?! Is this causing a mass US exodus back to GSM operators?

Expensive handsets with few cutting edge features?

When you get the time, show us a functioning GPS or A-GPS system in a GSM network that works indoors. This positioning system should be good enough for turn-by-turn navigation – like the CDMA systems.

The GSM system reminds me of the move Brazil: a sclerotic bureaucracy pumping out black and white TVs with large magnifying glasses in front that allow squinting accountants to enter data via their typewriters.

en.wikipedia.org

The government spends it time fighting terrorists (read CDMA producers) from taking over, leaving a wake of destruction and despair that’s just part of the paper work.

IMO, the GSM crowd can produce as many black and white TVs as they want, for as long as they want. There are a lot of poor people in the world that will be happy with a TV, if it’s cheap enough. This is what GSM is for.<g>

Best you and our European cousins.
