Woman wins seat in FNC By Samir Salama, Bureau Chief, and Nissar Hoath and Fuad Ali, Staff Reporters gulfnews.com Abu Dhabi/Fujairah: A woman was among the six victorious candidates in the first elections to the Federal National Council in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on Saturday. The winners praised the vision of Their Highnesses the Rulers of the emirates and vowed to work for the UAE's development. Dr Amal Abdullah Juma Karam Al Qubaisi became the first woman to be elected to the council. The other winners in Abu Dhabi were Mohammad Mohammad Ali Fadil Al Hameli, former FNC Deputy Speaker Ahmad Shabeeb Mohammad Al Daheri and Rashid Musabbah Al Kindi Ali Marar. The turnout in Abu Dhabi was 60.2 per cent, with 1,048 voters casting their ballots. The total number of votes polled was 3,630.
