Actually, I don't. I believe in spending only when you can find either a new source of revenue or you cut somewhere else. Ironically, that is exactly what the Democrats are proposing. It used to be Republicans who thought this way, but not this neocon version of the Republican party. They believe in lowering taxes and spending like there's no tomorrow.

Anyway, all students of history will tell you that a Democracy needs a thriving middle class to survive. When the middle class starts to disappear, then the wealth concentrates among the rich, and so does the power. When the non-rich no longer believe that class-mobility exists and the rich hold all the levers of power, then Democracy is dead.

We've already seen the gap between rich and poor widen faster during this administration than at any other point in the history of the US. In addition, the middle class is disappearing faster as well. Give it more time and the rich will continue to consolidate power within the Executive and Legislative branches until we no longer resemble a Democracy.
