Yep. Debt is by definition borrowing against future growth. In the corporate world where you are beholden to bondholders and shareholders, you can reasonably be assured of the corporate executives being held accountable. But in government, we know damn well they are inefficient and wasteful and there is very little accountability. That is why small gov't and a balanced budget is a must have not a nice to have.

Ahh well. What I find interesting is that longnshort and the other self-proclaimed conservatives on this thread are arguing against that. When I was younger these are the same arguments I'd have with Democrats. Now I'm having them with Republicans. My position hasn't changed, but the party positions sure have flipped. Interesting, but disheartening.

No wonder more and more true conservatives are waking up to the fact that the Republican party no longer represents them.
