If Obama runs he might come close to the nomination but then will lose. He would also lose in November. Ditto Hillary. If you want a fresh-faced reformer at least pick Edwards. Edwards can win in the white conservative swing districts. Obama absolutely cannot.

Also remember, Obama has just been the benficiary of the biggest hype wave we've seen since Howard Dean. You know how the media always overplays stories. But he is being scrutinized now, and he has already peaked. So there's the backlash.

Plus, the democratic establishment does not back young neophytes who can't win in November. The base may cheer Obama for some time, and some Hollywood stars may back Obama, but in the end, either Gore or Kerry will beat him, or the Republicans will.

I don't see Obama as qualified yet to be president. I think he needs at least 8 years, so why not let him earn his wings? Why the impatience? If anything, Obama for VP.
