Think how Iran-Iraq war developed. What achieved? How many dead?

This is how the invasion is going to be assessed. No need to go back to Stalingrad or to any non-sensical campaign in history. The US wants to leave the Iraqis to do their job and defend their interest and the US will only coughing up the money. Once the iRaqis get hooked by the money they get paid, they will be making a lving off defendiong the US interest and the situation will last for a very long time.
