That part of Christmas is certainly horrific, though not many people I know do that. I avoid malls like the plague. HATE shopping anyway.

Part of my feelings (and that is what they are- I am not pretending to be totally coldly rational about this-well, except about music education) stem from our Holiday Festival held in the school courtyard last week. It was wonderful. We had a Santa, and lights and a tree, and a snow machine on the roof, and there were carollers, and lots of food and games and good will. People sang along, and it had that small town, friendly feel.
I suppose there could have been some calls about it. I hope not. I believe the value of being part of a community far outweighed any damage from singing O Holy Night.

One of the solos was sung by a Muslim. :)
