I wonder how the Chinese play the game differently to avert any chance of a 1930's US or 1990's Japan cycle playing out in their country? Somehow someway could there be some debt cleansing downturn in China from the misallocation of capital and a major backup in long term rates in a stagflationary US economy occurring in sync..

The Yen, is a different story and serves a different function

By the way, I was doing some updates over the weekend on my ESF tracking and discovered something quite interesting.

During week ending 12/8, the ESF sold about 7 billion Euros and bought an equivalent amount of Yen. That's a very large change - the biggest weekly change I've seen in almost 1.5 years (which is as far back as I've entered the weekly balances).
