Oh, I agree with you. I didn't include LEGAL in my previous post, but that is exactly what it needs to be. We need more secure borders to guard against illegal immigration. And like you said, we need all sorts of LEGAL immigration, such as an vast increase in H-1 visas to entice highly educated workers to come here and stay here for awhile to fill all those IT jobs that we can't fill because we don't have enough skilled workers. And that's just for starters. I remember a few years back when everyone was complaining on the Cisco thread that all of our IT jobs were being outsourced. I had said at that time, that we just need to wait a few years and then we'll be complaining about the shortage of skilled IT workers here. Well, Baby Boomers are retiring in huge numbers and legal immigrants are finding better opportunities back home. That leaves us with a huge shortage. I have one guy right now who wants to go back to India. He's my best IT project manager, but I can't entice him to stay. This is bad news for the US. Our economy will not grow at full potential without employees filling all available jobs. We need to import them and we need to step up eduction of our own, if we want to compete. Isolationist tendencies will only sink this country further.
