It is easier to move any positional investment with a small float, be it a tech stock, prime real estate, precious metals or a currency. I don't mean to say that the Thai baht holds great importance -- but the flow of hot money in the Baht worries them and it should. As for how far to read this as dollar weakness, I already lean hard that way and might be more inclined than you to see it that way -- but I do see it that way. Not that long ago the Thai baht was toilet paper -- now it is preferred to the dollar. Same with RMB. Ten years ago you would have been laughed at if you suggested that such a thing would ever come to pass. And yes, that to me is part of the growing dollar weakness story. The dollar is the ultimate bubble and when the dam breaks we will all be singing "lord, here comes the flood".

Thailand is one of those rogue nations{any nation other than US}where things like this can happen{lack of checks and balances}somebody has few too many, declares an edict and you can kiss your money goodby.Another reason interest rates so low in the good old USA.
