<would you consider purchasing a place in Europe or any other place outside of US.>

Prices would have to come down a lot, and mortgages get real low for me to consider RE overseas. Property is expensive and inflated everywhere now. There are no bargains, especially true in English speaking communities. There are some towns on coastal Turkey that I liked, some with large Brit communities. We were in a pub with a bunch of them in Kos (very overbuilt with second homes for foreigners, and prices coming down), and I went away desiring the company of Americans. Turks are fine, but I couldn't at all picture myself living in a community of expat Brits. I'm pretty provincial, just in an English speaking comfort zone, and American deep down inside, and sadly that makes living (as opposed to just travelling) abroad a tough option. My message is to hunker down.
