I saw a CEO round table about a month ago. the CEO of Hovarian and KB homes and I think it was Toll Bros. And one CEO admitted to slapping up houses "just to unload the land." I would think break even would be one in 4 houses (actually)sold to break even. The CEO's strangely looked at each other when the Truth slipped....It was quite awkward. One denied it. One admitted it.

Land can be expensive to hold.......builders have been unloading land reserves and houses, some at very cheap rates, in order to cut down on their inventory during this slowdown.
