I've had people who's opinion I respect (they are not affiliated with Cramer) vouch for those figures.

That would be impressive.

But still, his swings on XM/SIRI have reeked of inadequate research, misplaced priorities, and a fundamental lack of understanding of the business.

The persistent merger talk is the most recent, but also the most egregious example. While a merger is an excellent idea for Sirius (since they would be merging with a stronger company) it would be un-helpful to XM, and the purported savings aren't there.

After a brief exchange of emails with him on the merger subject, it became clear to me that he was pretty unrealistic and uninformed in his expectations as to what the benefits of a merger might be. He did, however, indicate that the first step would be to fire XM's management. All we need is a carnival barker running the combined organization.
