Your strategy for Iraq (&, I assume, the 'W.O.T.') is to 'strike IRAN'... and to 'move our troops in Iraq out into the desert'? Er... you don't think our military leaders are correct when they advise that that might, just might, cause some major DIFFICULTIES for our guys in Iraq? (Like having the entire Shiite population of Iraq turn against us over-night....) Let's see... we attacked and over-threw Saddam's SUNNI MINORITY Dictatorship in Iraq, thus setting up the conditions for the long-downtrodden SHIITE MAJORITY (around 60% of the total Iraqi population), and their also long down-trodden 'partners' the Kurds (Sunnis mostly, but of different ethnicity then the Arabs, and strongly desirous of their OWN COUNTRY independent from 'Iraq', currently about equal to the Iraqi Sunnis at about 20% of the population) to take up the reigns of political power... and ally themselves with their co-religionist fellow Shiites in Iran... which they quickly, and totally predictably, did. Then we mustered-out the Sunni dominated Iraqi Army, and fought vigorously against the Sunni 'insurgents' who led a resistance campaign against our troops (trying to gain back some measure of their old hegemony over Iraqi society...), and fought against the Sunni Jihadists (al Qaeda, Wahabbists from neighboring Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, etc.) that the local and out-numbered Iraqi Sunnis recruited to fight on their side, against the US and against the Shiites and the Kurds who had usurped their positions atop society.... NOW you want us to attack Shiites in Iran and thus inflame the Shiite majority population of Iran (much larger then the entire population of Iraq!) AND the Shiite population of Iraq against us?????? What? Do you hate America or something? Do you have a death wish for America and all it's interests in the world? TRUST our Joint Chiefs about the ill-advisability of that tactic... and, I'd suggest learning the meaning of this one word: BLOWBACK. Also: unintended consequences, STRATEGIC DISASTER, and pain, misery, blood and national treasure wasted.... (Global recession and $150 a barrel oil might be worth pondering on, too....)
