But with the Prius you can carry five people in considerable comfort and great safety and many conveniences for about the same mileage as the "Smart Car."

msnbc.msn.com

Who would want to drive around in something like this?

consumeraffairs.com

I understand that it looks better from the inside than the outside.

EDIT:

Smart’s next concept was its Smart ForFour model; a four-door sedan developed in conjunction with Mitsubishi and built in Mitsubishi's New Car plant in the Netherlands and was first introduced to the world in Zürich, Switzerland, on "ForFour Day," June 26, 2003.

As the first Smart vehicle to result from a joint Daimler-Chrysler/Mitsubishi Z-car project, the car was based on the Japanese Colt subcompact.

The Smart ForFour was as expressive as it was functional. All Smart Cars embody driving enjoyment with a sporty touch, but the Smart ForFour was designed to be the ideal alternative to gas-guzzling, poor performing and lackluster looking cars.

Unfortunately, on June 30th, 2006 DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi officially announced that Forfour production would end.

Hi David,

You post sparingly and it seems are not heeded as much as befits the accuracy of your judgments.

I have a few questions, if you care to respond.

1. Do you see any signs yet that the Canadian energy trusts might be given any more allowances than Flaherty/Harper is proposing to give them?

2. If Flaherty gets his way, are there ways for the energy trusts to redisign themselves so as to continue making large payouts? (COS.UN's Coutu was talking about borrowing money and in effect paying out the borrowings as distributions).

3. Are you as confident as various commentators (Matthew Simmons, Don Coxe, etc) are that we are already over the hump on peak oil?

4. Do you hold any uranium stocks? Have you studied the sector?

5. Do you own or do you follow any of the secondary tar sand stocks, such as PBG, VLL SOIGF, SYN, etc., that have attracted so much speculative interest in the last couple of years?

6. Do you have any views on the probability of a major decline in U. S. stock markets?

Just thought I would solicit the opinions of someone who cares more about figuring things out accurately than about influencing people to do what he says.

17.6K for bare bones including (optional air + optional, yes optional :o) cupholder LOL.. and floor mats. excl Frt PDI tax... a 6 speed stick... wow.. just like one of my my old dirt bikes..

19.6 as above but add auto trans and slightly different trim.

Both are only two seaters... no fancy options beyond air which is not really fancy, IMO.

Not bad really (3 cyl turbo diesel) price wise for a little commuter car in and around town. Guy up the street has two but mostly couriers and other small businesses seem to own them in Toronto as they are more often than not decked out in advertisements..

Non starter for me with two kids to ferry around daily..

Then again compare with base Civic hybrid @ 29K and in specific cases it looks darn good. Mileage is better than the Civic. The Civic hybrid is too pricey to get folks to switch IMO but looks like a real car... Not George Jetson's with wheels :O)

I'd like to see one handle snow but we don't seem to get much in Toronto anymore.... Funny year... Early winter came in fall and then fall came back until Christmas.
