My cousin worked for IDOT and when we'd go on a fishing trip he'd have the whole trip mapped out including road work, detours and short cuts.

The mountains are what Denverites go by. They are always west of us. But, I agree with directions needing to be East, West, etc. Nothing else (left, right) makes a bit of sense.

My wife prefers "This way/that way directions. Left/Right is as confusing to her as East West.

Why is that? Most mountains tend to run North-South.

Unless you mean when you're in them. That can be a problem.
