Sorry, I guess I misunderstood you. I agree that religion is a very dangerous belief, when people believe on faith as fact of such things as parting of seas it shows how irrational mankind can be. What I meant about one per centers is simply in any group you have a small percentage of people that are evil and intend harm, but by no means do the majority in those groups intend harm. It was a term used back when I rode a harley long before it was popular to do so and the public stereotyped you as a "hells angel" Along with the cops that would harass and rough you up on occasion. Rodney King said it best "Can't we all just get along?"

Don't blame religion. Blame human nature. Religion is practically built into the human gene set. Take a group of babies throw them on an island and wait a couple generations or less. They will come up with their own religion...I guarantee it. Speaking of human nature, one can make a pretty strong argument in favor of religion by showing how it helps curb some of the nastier sides to human nature. On the other hand, it can and has worked to support some nasty human nature...examples the Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades, Suicide Bombers, Holocaust, etc. So I guess it can be used for good or for evil. But as for getting rid of religion, I don't think it can be done (short of some genetic manipulation) and I'm not sure it should be done. Reality is a hard pill to swallow and I'm sure that a lot of people would not be able to handle it.
