Probably because it would confirm that despite our ostensive market acumen, our stock picks would perform little better than the proverbial dart throwing monkey.

The only sure things in the market are volatility, the passage of time, and human nature remaining constant. (selling time and volatility via options is the way to exploit this, not stock picking)

No one can predict where the market is going with any degree of certainty on a consistent basis. Stock picking contests are an exercise in mental masturbation.

When you find the right key, the market changes the locks.
