I listened to a speech of his where he talked about the need for renewables and he hit all the key points I've always talked about on these threads. He said getting off of oil was not just an environmental concern, but one of national security, and one of securing our economy. He said it was good for the American people and that we needed to put alot of resources into getting us off of oil. He was very articulate, passionate, and young. He was credible and intelligent. All the things Bush is not.

That's all I care about. Oil independence. He can be a lunatic in every other respect and it would make no difference to me. This congressional elections were about oil independence for me and the upcoming 2008 election will be about oil independence for me.

No other issue matters. We need to get off the oil to stop funding the crazy Muslims terrorists. We are nothing more than rich slaves to the Muslims terrorists while we are oil dependent. So I will vote for anyone that promises to make it his or her mission to get us off the oil.

Solve that problem and you don't need large, expensive wars. We don't have to worry about massive pollution and destruction of our planet, you don't need to worry about economic disruption caused by high oil price spikes, etc.

Isn't he just an articulate, intelligent young guy?

That alone would be an incredible change from the status quo.
