ANKARA (Dow Jones)--The Turkish central bank said Thursday that its foreign exchange reserves increased $563 million to $59.34 billion in the week ended Dec. 15, the Ihlas news agency, or IHA, reported.

The bank did not provide an explanation in its weekly bulletin for the increase in the reserves which brought the total closer to the April 14 record high of $60.4 billion.

The foreign exchange reserves have increased $8.83 billion since the end of 2005 when they totaled $50.52 billion.
