Ya know, what it comes down to is if people want to live in a democracy, they have to want it. If they want to be fanaticalized, they have to want that to or be stupid enough to fall into the trap. This country isn't going to save all muslims from radical islam anymore than the west is going to save all christians from radical evangelicals.

Saddam didn't control his country through the use of chemical weapons. He used them in the past, not as a daily deterrent. He was a thug. that is there culture. And the way plenty of them came to power was to be supported by western governments that propped them up to have access to there oil. That is just the reality of the situation. Times are a changin, I see more countries that are aiming to take back there resources.

If anyone is serious about restoring order to Iraq, they are going to need more troops. Considering that the war still polls high for republicans, why do you think that has not translated into more troops?

As for the divisions in our own country. All I know is one day soon after 911, I woke up and found out that I was the enemy of the state, a saddam lover and a terrorist appeaser. The majority of the divisions in our own country originate on the republican side of the isle. And I can tell you two things..

1. When you hate something long enough, it is going to hate you back.

2. Nov 7th was a big turning point in this country. In 08, I can't gaurantee you who will win the white house or if the dems will or will not hang onto the house and senate. But I feel comfortable telling you this... You will not see much of the far right wing evangelicals winning many elections.
