The one flaw in the logic is the working class in Brazil doesn't have access to credit like they do in the US. Seems the game now is protect the rich, keep Joe6pack working, continue spreading US consumerism across the globe and encourage continued growth in spending and investment for all. Perhaps the poor in this country won't feel as poor if they have a job and access to so much entertainment and so many gadgets and toys to occupy their time? No doubt the income and wealth discrepancy in this country has widened quite dramatically since the 1970's..
