I like Chesapeake Bay oysters in season. Priced about $1/each retail from a fish market or shipped direct, less, depending on the dealer. These are the Atlantic oysters, crassostrea virginicus.

You can buy Atlantic oysters from Canada year-round.

The Pacific oysters are tasty, too.
