TJ, sometimes the context of a concept is significant. Liars ignore context. Taking quotes out of context is a very old trick of liars.

PS: Ha! I have cracked the system. Mq the hacker extraordinaire. ElM, you are nothing against my power!! You cannot stop me. I can post at will. Your totalitarianism is at an end. But, I have such contempt for your megalomania that I am going to boycott you.

We, the free, define reality. You, the totalitarian can only wonder at what makes the world tick. I considered deleting all your posts and changing TJ's, as a lesson to you in power, but that would be cruel and turn me into a megalomaniac too.

ElM, if you grovel for your error and ill-considered judgment in banning me, and remove that annoying red "ban" I see on my screen, I might reconsider my decision since it's the season of peace on Earth and goodwill to all men [even ElM, though not TJ the evil-doing racist].

Hmmm, on the other hand, perhaps I should ban ElM from his own stream.

ooops, my hacking software is playing up and my hacking has a glitch... not to worry. Being a megalomaniac is always problematic. Look how much trouble the USA is having in Iraq!

TJ, if Japan had succeeded in conquering China and had created the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity sphere, China would not be the backward place with umpty million casualties from Mao's maelstrom. It would now be wealthy, in fact the wealthiest place on the planet. Best of all, 1.3bn people in China would now be using CDMA2000 in full-blown EV-Dora version at low cost.

They would not be goofing around shooting themselves in the foot with their stupid TD-SCDMA and preparing for a suicidal MAD war with Taiwan and anyone who joins in on Taiwan's and South Korea's side [which could well be the USA which has those sneaky B2 bombers and a lot more besides].

But the GEACPW is past history and just one of the infinite range of possible outcomes which might have happened if what did happen hadn't happened. Rehashing ground from centuries gone by seems a fruitless occupation to me. TeoTwawki is more interesting.

People in Yugoslavia's devolution are still celebrating conflicts from centuries ago. In Northern Ireland, the Orange marches go through Catholic areas, celebrating ... go to Google ... omigod, they are mad, because they are celebrating Prince William of Orange's victory over some Catholics way back in 1690. en.wikipedia.org <Orange Walks are parades held annually by members of the Orange Order during the traditional "marching season", most notably in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and in most other countries in the Commonwealth.

These typically culminate in the 12th of July celebrations which mark the Protestant Prince William of Orange's victory over the Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

During our interregnum in France last year, we visited Orange because on a previous trip I came across the wall of this thing: images.google.com and I wondered what the heck it was. So we went back to have a look.

During that trip and our time around Uzes and Avignon, I learned some more about the Roman Empire and Catholicism and all that stuff.

I had no idea that Gerry Adams was blowing up New Zealand tourist children in the Tower of London in the 1970s because Orange was the scene of conflict between Catholics and Protestants. It was all quite horrific, as such conflicts are when one mindless mob thinks they should attack another tribe, take their property, become their boss and order them around like serfs or slaves, if not eat them; as China and the mindless mob there is thinking of doing to Taiwan today, right now. Which from the vantage point of history will be yet another absurdity by megalomaniac chimp-type people.

Anyway, China should be using CDMA2000 EV-DO and they could rule the world of mobile cyberspace, which will be pretty much everything. Instead, they will rule nothing, and worse, will waste their time, effort and lives in monkey fights in the jungle, starting another Boxer Rebellion against the nice Taiwanese and their Foreign Devil supporters.

I started reading more about the Boxers and the history of China back then. It started to feel like rebattling the conflict of Orange and how come the popes had to go to Avignon anyway and Uzes was the source of the aqueduct to Nimes and ... head hurt...

My maternal grandfather was apparently involved in the Foreign Devil side of the Boxer Rebellion. It seems odd to hold a victory march to celebrate that each year. I don't even know when I should hold it.

Maybe I'll hold a victory march to celebrate CDMA's victory over GSM Evil Doers. Or Globalstar's success [first dividend payment].

Yes, I am rehashing old posts here and refighting old SI wars. I shall hold a Victory March, 22 March, through this stream each year to celebrate victory over the evil-doer El Matador. The calendar could get quite crowded if we all hold victory marches for our favourite conflicts back 1000 years or 2000 years, or in the case of NZ, defeat marches - we commemorate being killed en masse at Gallipoli but don't celebrate victory in WWII.
