Sure we could. No question about it. But at what cost? Iraq has cost us $500B and counting. That is why we need other countries. We can't cover the cost of the darn wars. We're already $9 trillion in debt. I bet you didn't know that the US didn't pay a dime for the Gulf War (first Iraq war). That's what UN cover provides. Funding.
