You are still missing my point. I'm sorry it is so hard to explain.

Did it occur to you that your point is frivolous?

If Hulbert, myself or anyone calculating the performance of Brinker or a brand new subscriber decided to follow Brinker's model portfolios on August 11, 2006 when Brinker had his model portfolio's fully invested, then the ONLY WAY to match Brinker's returns going forward from August 11, 2006 is to be fully invested. That means a new subscriber as of that date or one with new money should lump sum into the market if they want to get the returns Brinker will advertise.

No. If you want to match Bob's returns from 8/11/2006 you had to be fully invested on 8/11/2006. Any new money DCAed in after that will not match his return. That should be the opening quiz in accounting 101.

What's your beef anyway? You've been repeating the same thing for years. Get over it.

Re: "It allows Brinker a way to have it both ways. Whatever happens, Brinker or some dupe can say "look at how great Bob's advice has worked out."

BTW, this has been going on for a long, long time... see
Message 5502873;

Why the heck are you here? So we are citing eight year old posts out of context to say, by implication, that I am some kind of "dupe?" I have not talked to you for years (it seems) and my life has been better for it and now you come out of nowhere to launch an attack based on an eight year old post taken out of context? Sometimes the net is like the twilight zone.

Is this a sales strategy? Call the moderator a "dupe" and then sucker him a debate over an eight year old post and try to generate business at your site? You know, slam and spam just like what you have been doing with Brinker for years now?

I suppose if I look at more of your posts here recently I will find some spam links. Why yes, I just found one. Why am I not surprised? Some people just never change. This has been going on for years with you and it is still going on? This is hard to comprehend.

And now dollar cost averaging is some kind of crap, trick or parlor game? You can disagree with the strategy but it is a legitimate investment strategy for many working people and retirees.

Go somewhere else, please. The less I waste time with this nonsense, the better. If anyone wants to talk to Kirk, you know where to find him.

Someone please pinch me. It is almost 2007? Happy new year to those that can still understand the passage of time and the fragility of life itself.
