You can't take the *average* salary and the *average* price of a home and conclude that the average mortgage is 10x salary in California.


i didn't "conclude" that the average mortgage is 10x salary. of course there are 10x mortgages out there.

You also can't take an average salary survey and apply it to housing. Try median that might be more meaning

actually the Austin number i quoted is the median. and i think you will find SJ median around 70K. your idea that the SJ median is triple the Austin median is beyond ridiculous. where do you come up with these things?
