Bog,

I do not apologize nor do I excuse Cramer--nor the Hedge Funds--and I try never to shoot the messenger: "Captain, radio reports say there's a large iceberg in our vicinity!"

I was trying to understand the market's behaviour these past two weeks in the face of overwhelming evidence that AAPL is having a blow-out quarter. I don't think that any of the actions that have been taken are illegal--that is simply the way the game is played and/or evolving. An understanding of what is happening and why would help all AAPL investors--whether long term buy-and-holds or short term in-and-outs--to better evaluate the associated risks with this particular investment.

The buy-and-holds are relatively secure: they understand the company, the product, the market success and are comfortable with the probable future performance. They can ignore the short-term fluctuations as long as the overall corporate picture does not worsen.

However, the in-and-outs can get severely whip-sawed by the manipulators. A lot of investors have started trading options and there is nothing wrong with that. But too many options traders need to know that knowing the right company for the right reasons is, of and itself, not enough. (I'm still learning!) Knowing when and why to establish short-term positions is often the critical information for them to conclude winning trades. IF they know the logic and intent of big money, they are more likely to have success trading.

jmho. Happy Holidays to all! And the most prosperous of New Years!

Wow, that is the most cynical thing I've ever heard!

I wonder if he's hyperbolizing a bit to reinforce his bad boy image - if he actually did that stuff you'd think he be a little more circumspect!

My overall impression though is that it is at least mostly accurate.

I have to wonder why, if it is so easy to manipulate the market, why they don't make a lot more money than then actually do.
