Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Oregon. The silky texture of the pinot noir with its earthy tones is a great match for the smoked wild salmon. There are many excellent Pinot Noirs from this area. 2004 is great vintage although some would be better held to drink later. Chehalem (sp?) and Edelsham are producers with wide distribution.

I think a champagne with some backbone is a good match but will be $$$. Krug sounds about right. MP

My first reaction would be a Sauvignon Blanc. Salmon is one of the few seafoods that go well with Pinot Noir. Since I love Salmon, I have tried many things. It goes well with full bodied Chardonnay also.

I had a quite acceptable Columbia Crest Sauvignon Blanc recently, and the cost was reasonable as well.
