It's a mess locally too. Voters rejected a tax increase for the county jail. The county/city is "broke" they say. Message 22856271 Now the paper has dug this up: arkansasonline.com The state is running a huge surplus politicians are fighting over. todaysthv.com People are tired of politicians using the line "we're broke and we have to raise taxes". They actually said they were going to let prisoners out if they didn't get their tax increase because things were so bad. Bush's first mistake was giving ted kennedy everything he wanted on the education bill. /off soapbox
