It's not just for geeks. My wife is very technophobic. Was even intimidated by automatic dishwashers for a long time after coming to this country. But she likes the Roomba. It's not expected to clean as well as a person with a vacuum cleaner, but it keeps the dust and dirt levels below a threshold.

Puddlewife let it loose in my office... accidentally... one day. When I got home if found that some of my computer cables had been tugged at and moved. If your house is full of furniture and tons of things, then you may not want one. But we have a fair amount of open space for the Roomba to roam.
