Ed, since I'm holding Petrolifera via Connacher and also (groan) Pluris via the folded PTGC, BPZ seemed like a good addition to southern exposure, so I took a 1/2 position @ 3.86. I gather they'll be selling natgas at local prices and they do have some formidable financing ahead of them (cf PEYG), but the plan certainly makes sense on paper. I wonder if this tropical winter will make for a tacit shoulder season this winter, with other buying ops for the stock.

Re: BPZI

I heard that there is a project competing with Corvina offshore Ecuador. I don't have details. Gas-to-power sounds like a nice cash-cow. How long before they start producing electricity?

Also heard that the offshore wells are very expensive ($50M each), so BPZ is not financially capable to drill those alone. Is this correct? That's where the oil upside is.

I don't mean to bash BPZ Energy. I'm just repeating what I heard. I don't see what news could move this stock short term... AMEX listing is a plus, but would it suffice?

Still on my radar screen but undecided. Thanks for mentioning it anyhow.
