Interesting how Cheney and Rummy worked for Ford and lied to him about the Soviets "huge military advantage" to try and get Ford to spend hundreds of billions more on nukes, etc. Now we know the Soviet military was a joke. No spare parts, no modern technology, and much less dangerous than the conservatives claimed. It was 50% a big hoax and scam. Trillions of dollars wasted on arms races over the years because of liars like Cheney and Rumsfeld. Another big lie is that Reagan won the Cold War by over-spending on military. Actually Cheney and Rumsfield as well as many reaganites considered detente a dirty word. They wanted endless Cold War. They did not want peace. Reagan presided over the fall of the Soviet machine. He did not cause it.
